The Trinity Parish Blackpool

A Growing, All-Age, Christ-Centered Community

Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care involves offering care, support and encouragement to others.  Reflecting the ministry of Jesus, it includes demonstrating unconditional love and acceptance, bringing hope, being present with and listening to people, journeying alongside people, especially during times of crisis, change and bereavement, building relationships and praying for those in our care.

The Pastoral Team is a group of approximately 19 people who undertake all or some of the following:

-       Visiting parishioners who are elderly, disabled, housebound, ill, recovering from illness or bereavement at home, in residential day-care centres or in hospital.

-       Visiting those who are new to the church.

-       Offering listening, conversation, support or prayer to those being visited.

-       Making and maintaining telephone contact with identified individuals.

-       Passing on requests for Home Communion from church members who are unable to come to church services.

-       Offering prayer support to members of the congregation as part of the prayer rota.

Members of the Pastoral Team have undergone training and when visiting as a pair one of the team will be DBS checked. Further training such as the Pastoral Care and Community courses will be available to team members.
